Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and driven Lab Head to lead our molecular biology and gut microbiome research laboratory. This role will be responsible for overseeing lab operations, driving research excellence, managing a team of scientists, and ensuring high-quality execution of molecular assays.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capabilities to scale lab operations and contribute to innovative product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily laboratory operations and research activities
- Perform and supervise advanced molecular biology assays, including:
- Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA)
- DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and quality control
- PCR/qPCR workflows
- Protein analysis (Western blotting, SDS-PAGE)
- Ensure proper handling, processing, and storage of biological samples as per SOPs
- Develop, optimize, and standardize laboratory protocols and workflows
- Maintain accurate documentation, data reporting, and experimental records
- Ensure compliance with biosafety, quality, and regulatory standards (GLP, NABL, ISO)
- Lead troubleshooting, data interpretation, and scientific decision-making
- Manage lab inventory, procurement, and equipment maintenance/calibration
- Build, mentor, and manage a team of researchers and lab technicians
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, R&D, Analytics) for project execution
- Drive innovation in molecular diagnostics and microbiome-based research
Qualifications
- Master’s / PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field
- 5–10+ years of experience in a molecular biology or microbiome research lab
- Strong hands-on expertise in ELISA, PCR/qPCR, and nucleic acid handling
- Proven experience in lab management or team leadership roles
- Experience working with human biological samples and diverse matrices
- Strong understanding of lab quality standards and regulatory compliance
- Excellent documentation, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead independently while collaborating across teams
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working under ISO / NABL / GLP-certified environments
- Exposure to gut microbiome research or sequencing workflows
- Experience in D2C health-tech, diagnostics, or nutraceuticals industry
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on process optimization
